H.E. Hendrik (Henk) G.C. van den Dool

Henk van den Dool (Dordrecht, June 4th, 1961) studied History at the University of Amsterdam, where he graduated with honors (“cum laude”) in 1986. After having worked as a journalist, he entered the Diplomatic Service of the Netherlands in 1987. He held various positions, both within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague and in bilateral and multilateral representations abroad: Brussels-EU (1990-1993), Geneva-UN (1996-1998) and Warsaw (2002-2006).
From 1998 to 2002 Henk van den Dool served as Private Secretary to the Minister for Development Co-operation, H.E. Ms. Eveline Herfkens. In 2008 he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Albania in Tirana. He held this position until the summer of 2012, when he became Head of the Baltic Mission, comprising the Dutch Embassies in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Latvia in Riga.
In the summer of 2015, Henk van den Dool was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade. He is also accredited to Montenegro.
The main areas of expertise and interest of Ambassador Van den Dool are European Integration, Human Rights and transformation processes in Central and Eastern Europe.
Ambassador Van den Dool has two sons, Jip Sebastiaan and Casper Jarek. His partner is Katarzyna (Kasia) Anna Pawelska.
