Specialized seminar on EU requirements in food safety
On May 19 , at the Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, a specialized seminar was organized on EU requirements in food safety. The seminar drew a lot of attention from companies and entrepreneurs from the food industry.
The main task of the seminar was to help them familiarize with required standards in order to improve food safety on a national scale and to assist in meeting the requirements for exporting food to the European Union. The requirements include implementation of HACCP, regulations on labeling, microbiological criteria in food processing, and other EU standards related to food processing.
Through the bilateral "Government to Government" assistance program, The Netherlands has been a strong supporter of Serbian efforts to upgrade the capacity of its administrative apparatus. The Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management and the Netherlands Embassy have an excellent cooperation, and the Ministry has especially been an outstanding partner in implementing jointly prepared projects.
